Residents and property owners in Mosman Park are advised that Council elections will be held on 21 October 2017.

How to become an Elected Member

Nomination dates
The nomination period to become a candidate in the 2017 local government elections opens on Thursday 7 September 2017 and closes on Thursday 14 September 2017 at 4.00pm. 

Returning Officer
The City’s Returning Officer is responsible for the conduct and processes associated with the Town of Mosman Park local government elections. The Returning Officer is able to provide further information for prospective candidates including guides and forms for candidates and scrutineers.  The City’s Returning Officer for the 2017 elections is Ms Amber Cooper who can be contacted on 0467 800 405 or via email lgro_mos@elections.wa.gov.au

Nomination submissions
Nominations are to be finalised and lodged in person with the City’s Returning Officer, who is responsible for the local government elections once the nomination period opens. An effective nomination consists of the following: 
•    A completed nomination form 
•    A profile of the candidate, prepared in accordance with the regulations 
•    A nomination deposit of $80.00 in the form of cash, bank cheque or money order, and 
•    A photograph (optional). 
Prior to nominating, potential candidates should read the Western Australian Electoral Commission’s Guide for Candidates (Postal Elections) and be familiar with eligibility, nomination and disclosure of gifts requirements. 
Candidates are encouraged to make an appointment with the Town’s Returning Officer well before nominations close to discuss nominations.

The Town’s Returning Officer will be available at the Grove Community Library 1 Leake St Peppermint Grove for appointments during the following times:
•    Saturday 9 September 2017, 10.00am – 1.00pm 
•    Sunday 10 September 2017, 12.00pm – 2.00pm 
And at the Town of Mosman Park Administration Centre, cnr Bay View Terrace and Memorial Drive Mosman Park
•    Thursday 14 September 2017, 10.00am - 2.00pm. 
Candidates will need to make an appointment to avoid disappointment

Town Hall Meeting

As the Council election approaches, the Town of Mosman Park will host a Town Hall Meeting so that you that you can meet your local area electoral candidates and ask your questions about what interests you as a resident of, or owner of a business or property in Mosman Park.

When:  7.30pm Wednesday 20 September 2017
Venue: Town Administration Centre,
             Memorial Drive, Mosman Park


The session will be conducted by an independent moderator and light refreshments will be provided.
