Development at Mosman Park River Foreshore Approved by State Government
The Mayor of the Town of Mosman Park has noted the approval by the State Government of a new development, known as Mosmans, along the Swan River foreshore, which is not in full alignment with the Town’s decision of October 2017 where concerns were raised.
On Friday 9 November 2018, the Minister for the Environment; Disability Services, The Hon Stephen Dawson MLC approved the redevelopment of existing buildings for a cafe, function room, short-stay accommodation, jetty and private boat pens.
Approved works will involve demolition of the existing structures and construction of a two-storey building containing a restaurant/café on the lower level, and an upper level containing a function room. Short stay accommodation units catering for up to 36 people are also included at the northern part of the development.
Mayor Pollock explained that the Town was in favour of development in the area, and is sympathetic to the reinstatement of traditional use of the area, which has been used in decades past for boat hire and as a recreational area far beyond its current patronage. He added: “We have concerns, however, about the parking for this development and this area including the Swan Canoe Club. We look forward to satisfactory discussions with the successful developer and the State Government to resolve this.”
