Winter Holidays Fun @ The Grove

The Great Winter Book Sale
Get your winter reading now! Books, books, books!  The Grove will be running its Great Winter Book Sale in August. This is the perfect opportunity to find some cheap reads.  So curl up and escape the winter weather; including a great selection of non-fiction!  When: Monday 26 August – Friday 6 September 2019.

Tech Help @ The Grove
The Grove Library can help with computer technology, from complete beginners to those struggling with a device or app.  Beginners can sign up for workshops held on Wednesday mornings, for a simple introduction to computers and the internet. Contact the library on 9286 8686 to check when the next course is starting.  For drop in help with devices, e-books, applications and more; see us Friday mornings 10am - 12 noon with our tech help volunteers. No bookings required.

JULY School Holidays @ The Grove Library
CELEBRATE Aboriginal Culture
Join us for a craft afternoon to help kids celebrate our Indigenous culture.  We will be decorating some symbolic Aboriginal shapes.
When: Monday 8 July 2019, time: 1.30pm – 2.30pm, ages 5 -11 are welcome.

Make your own bird feeder
Do you have a few hungry birds in your garden? Well it’s time to get to know which birds are native to your area.  We will be making a custom-built bird feeder, and will be using some bird-approved nuts and seeds, to create something wonderful.
When: Tuesday 9 July 2019, 1.30pm – 2.30pm, ages 5 -11 are welcome.

Minecraft Workshop
This fun and educational Minecraft camp will be held indoors at The Grove Library on Thursday 11 July 2019. It’s a great school holiday activity that really gets kids working together collaboratively online in teams on game-based challenges.  They can continue their learning and connections long after the workshop finishes. There is a great opportunity for the kids to get in early for the next Minecraft camp.  This is run by MindBuzz at The Grove

Cupcake Workshops with Cherie
The Queen of Cupcakes is back!  Join us this July school holidays and learn how to decorate cupcakes with fondant. Practice making beautifully decorated cupcakes ready for eating.  
When: Friday 12th July, (1st Session) 10.00am – 12.00 noon, (2nd Session) 1.00pm– 3.00pm, for ages 8 – 12 years old.

SLIME TIME @ The Grove
Let's get messy! It’s ooey and gooey… It's SLIME!  Every kid loves slime - well most do. So we will be making it in the library and not in your home! Kids will take home one batch of slime in a container.
When: Monday 15 July 2019, time: 1.30pm – 2.30pm, ages 5 -11 are welcome.

Movie time @ The Grove
The Kid Who Would Be King (PG)  
Join us for a family film afternoon, where old-school magic meets the modern day in this epic adventure! Alex is just a bullied kid until he discovers Excalibur, the legendary Sword in the Stone. Now, his friends (and his enemies) must become knights, and join the wizard Merlin (Patrick Stewart) to fight the wicked Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must show courage he never dreamed he had!

Design Your Own Sun Umbrella @ The Grove
Here's a rainy-day craft for the kids. Brighten up their winter days by transforming a boring umbrella into a splash of colour.
(Measures 58cm long when collapsed and 72cm in diameter when open).
