Our commitment to Reconciliation

Reconciliation Action Plan 2023 – 2024

In 2020, our community spoke. What followed was a new Strategic Community Plan that set out an action for the Town of Mosman Park to imagine a future where “Aboriginal culture is respected, celebrated and embedded in the Town’s day-to-day activities.”

This Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) marks the first step in the Town’s reconciliation journey.

The Town’s Reconciliation Action Plan is designed to establish the foundations for change within the Town’s administration. Our aim is to champion reconciliation as a subconscious action that transcends reconciliation and promoting an understanding of Australia’s shared history and identity with First Nations Australians in our community. At its heart, the Reflect RAP enables the Town to explore opportunities and establish relationships with First Nations residents, Elders, and stakeholders.

The Town of Mosman Park’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan was endorsed by Council in December 2022 and received accreditation from Reconciliation Australia in early 2023.

Reconciliation Action Plan 2027 – 2028

The Town of Mosman Park has officially commenced development of its second Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), following Council’s endorsement in June 2025 to progress this important work.

Building on the foundations established through the Town’s first Reflect RAP, this next plan represents a continued commitment to strengthening relationships, respect and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The development of the second Reflect RAP will include community and stakeholder engagement, with public consultation scheduled to commence in mid-2026. Feedback received through this process will help shape the final plan and ensure it reflects local priorities, aspirations and learnings.

The RAP is expected to be finalised by December 2026 and will guide the Town’s reconciliation actions from January 2027 to July 2028.

Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group

To support the development and implementation of the RAP, the Town has established an Internal Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group. The working group will provide strategic guidance, oversight and coordination throughout the RAP development process, and will play an ongoing role in supporting delivery of actions once the plan is adopted.

The Working Group’s Terms of Reference outline its purpose, membership and responsibilities and are available here.

Further updates will be shared as the RAP development progresses, including opportunities for the community to be involved in the consultation process.
