Bin Tagging

The bin tagging and education program has been operating since 2015. It involves inspecting residents’ kerbside waste, recycling, and green waste bins and attaching tags to bin handles to provide on-the-spot feedback to householders.

The Town of Mosman Park’s Bin Tagging Program is run annually by the Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC) on behalf of the Town. It is funded by the State Government through the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account and administered by the Waste Authority WA.

Bin tagging is an important educational tool that provides residents with direct, individualised feedback on the contents of their bins to help reduce waste and recycle correctly. Experience shows that contamination decreases after repeat visits, with only a small number of properties having bins that are severely contaminated. Reducing contamination also helps lower waste service costs.

Information on what should go in each bin is available here.
