Waste and recycling resources

Western Metropolitan Regional Council

The West Metropolitan Region Council runs the West Metro Recycling Centre in Shenton Park, and also provides residents with informative workshops, tours and webinars designed to help you and your family live a low-waste life.

Containers for Change

When you recycle with Containers for Change, you get a 10 cent refund for every eligible drink container you return.

There are fifteen Container Exchange Points installed across Mosman Park. These Container Exchange Points offer a simple and recognisable solution to allow residents to save their 10¢ containers from going to landfill, whilst giving community members who value them, a dignified way to collect these to return to their nearest refund point.

To use a Container Exchange Point, simply:
1. Finish your drink
2. Place your eligible 10¢ container in the Container Exchange Point
3. Interested community members collect the containers from the Exchange Points to redeem 10¢ per container via a Containers for Change refund point.
Here is a map of the current Container Exchange Points within the Town.

Reel It In

The Reel it in campaign was launched in 2013 to help reduce the impact of discarded fishing line and tackle on dolphins, water birds and other animals in the Swan Canning Riverpark. Made of 100 percent recycled plastic, the bins provide a safe and easy way to dispose of unwanted fishing line and tackle.

Here is a map of the current Reel It In bin locations within the Town.

Recycle Right

The Western Australian Government has created the Recycle Right website, to encourage and assist residents to sort their waste correctly. Visit the Recycle Right website to find your nearest specialist recycling points, or find which bin to use for your tricky to recycle items.

Repair and Reuse

If it’s too good for Verge Valet™ or landfill, you can try to gift it, sell it, donate it, fix it or swap it first. Use the link above to explore local op shops, charities, repair cafes and repair labs.
