The Riverbank Program provides funding for foreshore restoration in the Swan and Canning Rivers. The Town of Mosman Park is a successful grant recipient of the 2025-2026 Riverbank Program. The funding will support a range of restoration efforts aimed at stabilising the riverbank, improving local habitats, and boosting biodiversity, ensuring the park’s long-term sustainability.
Restoration works are underway at Point Roe reserve to reduce erosion and restore local habitat. The restoration works are located on the riverward slope at the Western end of the boardwalk. This includes coir matting of the slope to stabilise the soil and protect it from erosion, and revegetation of the site. More than 2,600 native tubestock was planted in May 2026, with further works planned.
The desired outcomes include:
• Stabilise the embankment to prevent further erosion and degradation;
• Restore ecological values through creating quality habitat for local flora and fauna;
• Improve visual amenity of the reserve.
The project aligns with the three broad objectives of the Riverbank Program:
1. To protect and enhance riverbanks and shorelines to mitigate threats to environmental and aesthetic values.
2. To protect, enhance and manage fringing indigenous vegetation and habitat; and
3. To improve enjoyment of the foreshore by addressing risk to public amenity values, safety, infrastructure and environment.
We look forward to furthering Point Roe’s ecological value with the help of this grant thanks to Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
