Dog attacks are serious and can be traumatic for all parties. We take all animal attacks seriously and will investigate any reported incidents. Dogs of any size or breed can get aggressive when they are defending their territory. Attacks may occur from “unexpected” breeds that are not typically linked to aggression, as well as from hazardous or confined dogs.

The majority of dog assaults occur on public property, such as sidewalks or roads. This is why it’s crucial that your dog be kept under control when off-leash and wear a leash when in on-leash locations. Your dog must be kept safely confined whilst on your premises.

The Town of Mosman Park’s animal control officers routinely monitor the community’s parks, open areas, and streets to keep peace and make sure dog owners comply with to the leash/off-leash regulations.

But it’s important that dog owners maintain sufficient control over their pets and remain aware of both the animal and other people. We take dog attacks very seriously, so it’s also crucial that anyone affected by one report the incident to the Town of Mosman Park and make sure you exchange information with the dog owner.

  • should your dog be barking at persons strolling by, block the view of any action occurring outside the property
  • make sure your dog is healthy
  • if your dog consistently makes noise or inconsiderately disrupts the quiet, your neighbours may file a complaint. If your dog barks all the time, you might get fined or even brought before the court and told to stop the behaviour.
