Davis Oval light project update

The Town is moving forward with significant community engagement following Council’s decision at the March Ordinary Council Meeting to suspend the Davis Oval lighting replacement project.

The decision – made on 23 March 2021 – entails:

  • approval for community engagement to commence immediately where the Town will co-design a solution for Davis Oval lighting
  • directing the Town’s Chief Executive Officer to provide a further report to Council to consider the outcome of community engagement to propose an alternative solution for Davis Oval lighting.

Furthermore, Council has given the green light to consider replacing the current lights at Tom Perrott Reserve.

We will commence an extensive engagement process immediately – firstly with residents in close proximity to Davis Oval, starting with our first face-to-face meeting tonight at 5:30pm at the Town’s Administration Building. Councillors and Town officers will be in attendance at this independently facilitated meeting. A follow up meeting with residents in attendance tonight will be held in early April, with our aim to act on our words in the best interests of the whole community.
Secondly, community engagement will take place in the coming weeks with key stakeholders including residents living near Tom Perrott Reserve.

By providing these opportunities to facilitate meaningful discussions with us, we are steadfast in our resolve to carefully consider the impact of this project on our community so we can move forward better, together.
