Update on copper roof thefts across Mosman Park

40 copper panels were stolen from Minim Cove, Garungup Park, and Mt Lyell in late 2022.

The prolonged repair process has taken much longer than anticipated due to unforeseen factors; particularly settlement of the insurance claim and the need for additional funds to cover the repairs, which required Council approval this month.

The good news is Council endorsed our mid-year budget review at last night’s Ordinary Council Meeting; giving us the green light to move forward with replacing the panels.

We – like many others – have been facing difficulties with securing materials and contractors for capital works projects. Because of these anticipated difficulties, we can’t provide a concrete repair date at this stage.

However, we’re pushing forward with finalising the tender process for a contractor and addressing any challenges so that we can begin repairs as soon as possible. The replacement panels will be made of colourbond, not copper.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while we do our best to complete these long-awaited works for our community. We will provide another update as soon as the repair dates have been locked in.
