Members of the public may attend Council meetings open to the public and present deputations, in accordance with the Town’s Meeting Procedure Local Law. Please read the following before submitting your deputation request:
Submission Guidelines: this form must be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer by 12 noon on the day of the meeting.
At the Meeting:
- A deputation should be made by no more than five people relating to an item, and only two may address the Council. Others can respond to specific questions from members or unless otherwise ruled by the Presiding Officer.
- Additional members may be allowed to speak if the Presiding Member agrees.
- Speakers cannot address Council for longer than 10 minutes unless the Presiding Member agrees to an extension.
- After the meeting commences, the Presiding Member will announce deputation time and call on participants.
- Participants must firstly provide their name, suburb and agenda item
- Deputations are to be directed the Presiding Member and are to be made politely in good faith. They must not reflect adversely or be defamatory to, any member of the public or Council.
- A summary of the deputation will be recorded in the meeting minutes.
Meeting Recordings:
- Agenda Forums and Ordinary Council Meetings are recorded (except when confidential).
- Recordings are available on the Town’s website.
Personal recording (audio or video) is not permitted without prior approval.
