On 16 November 2025, the WA State Government announced plans to accelerate housing around train station precincts, with Mosman Park Station identified as a priority area. Improvement Plans and Schemes will be established within an 800metre radius of selected stations, with the State Government responsible for setting height, zoning density, and acting as the decisionmaker.
On 8 December 2025, the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) resolved to initiate the draft Station Precincts Improvement Plan and begin consultation with local governments. The Town of Mosman Park has now received the draft plan and plan and has been invited to provide feedback by 27 February 2026.
For Mosman Park, the Improvement Plan boundary extends 800 metres from the railway station. A future Improvement Scheme will apply the area within this boundary.
What you need to know
- More detailed planning, including zoning maps and development controls are still to come and are not yet drafted.
- The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) have not yet modelled the housing potential impacts of the Improvement Plan/Improvement Scheme.
- Questions or concerns about the process and the Improvement Scheme must be directed to the Precincts and Projects Team at DPLH.
The Town’s role is to share the draft plan, invite community comment, advocate and ensure that your feedback is heard by Council and provided to the DPLH for their consideration.
Community feedback is open until 20 January 2026. To view all relevant documentation and provide feedback via the survey, please visit the Town of Mosman Park Your Say Page: yoursay.mosmanpark.wa.gov.au/stationprecinct
