Years of advocacy pay off with a safer school pick-up zone underway

Works have now started to create a dedicated and secure student drop-off and pick-up area, marking a significant step towards improving road safety around Mosman Park schools.

The new carpark will be funded by the State Government and comes after years of advocacy by the Town to address ongoing traffic safety concerns at the Mosman Park Primary School and Mosman Park School for Deaf Children.

Mayor Paul Shaw said the safety and well-being of students and the community remain the Town’s paramount concern.

“The new carpark is designed to provide a dedicated and secure drop-off and pick-up area, significantly alleviating traffic congestion during peak school hours,” said Mayor Shaw.

“Beyond school hours, the carpark will cater to the needs of the wider community including local sporting clubs.”

Additional parking spaces will be made available for various community groups and users of Mann Oval, Davis Oval, and Nash Field, enhancing accessibility to these facilities.

Completion of the new Solomon Street carpark is expected in Term 1, 2027.

Temporary pedestrian and vehicle access changes will apply, so please follow site signage for safety reasons.
