Bringing back movies to Mosman Park

In a shared commitment to ensure the movies in Mosman Park shine once again, the Town is this week in talks with Perth International Jazz Festival (PIJF) to revive Camelot Outdoor Cinema this summer.

Luna Palace Cinemas last week announced they will not be delivering their 2023/24 movie season in Mosman Park due to complications over noise-related complaints.

The Town has been collaborating closely with PIJF (the new tenants at Memorial Hall) in a commitment to deliver the movie season and preserve the iconic outdoor cinema experience.

This includes working with alternative cinema providers to devise a solution that addresses noise-related and any other concerns, striking a balance that benefits everyone.

The Town is determined to bring back the much-anticipated movie season and ensure that the tradition of outdoor cinema in Mosman Park continues while taking into consideration the comfort and satisfaction of moviegoers and neighbouring properties.

Possible solutions including sourcing and funding appropriate sound equipment so that the movies can run while adhering to the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997, (Noise Regulations).

In addition, the Town is:

  • commencing a regulatory review to explore medium to longer term options to manage the acoustics of this venue
  • proactively seeking advice from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER)to determine how the outdoor cinema can operate within noise regulations.

Together with PIJF, the Town is dedicated to working tirelessly to bring back the much-loved movie season for this summer and ensure the show will go on.
