Celebrating families in our community: National Families Week 2025

The Town of Mosman Park is proud to support National Families Week 2025, taking place from 12–18 May. This annual celebration brings together thousands of individuals and hundreds of organisations across Australia to recognise the critical role families play in our society.

National Families Week is a time to come together with loved ones – whether family by blood, by choice, or through community – and celebrate the connections that strengthen us. It’s an opportunity to participate in family-focused activities, reconnect with extended family and friends, and reflect on the importance of care and resilience within all types of families.

Held in conjunction with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May, the week acknowledges the significance of families as the foundation of healthy, inclusive and supportive communities. The United Nations also uses this occasion to raise awareness about the global importance of family wellbeing.

This year’s theme, “Lending a hand to thrive: supporting each other,” invites us to consider how we can contribute to the health and happiness of our families and those around us. It serves as a timely reminder that through empathy, understanding and shared strength, we can help all families thrive – regardless of structure, background or circumstance.

At the Town of Mosman Park, we believe strong families build strong communities. We encourage local residents, schools, community groups and businesses to take part in this national celebration. Whether it’s a small gathering, a community event, or simply spending time together, every moment counts.
