Cr Josh Allsop to step down from Mosman Park Council

Josh Allsop has announced he will resign from his role as Mosman Park Councillor, with effect on 20 December 2023.

The vacancy will likely be filled at an extraordinary election in early 2024, instead of at next month’s Ordinary Council Election. His decision to step down is attributed to a recent family decision to relocate and work overseas.

“After careful consideration and much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down as a Councillor. This choice has not come easily, and I must admit that there is a lingering sense of unfinished business,” said Cr Allsop.

“Serving in this capacity has been an immensely enjoyable experience, but it has also come with its fair share of challenges. Balancing the responsibilities of a local Councillor with the demands of family and my professional life has proven to be a complex act.”

Mayor Paul Shaw thanked Cr Allsop for his dedication to the Mosman Park community over the past two years.“Josh has brought sound judgement and a unique perspective to Council; driven by his genuine passion for community engagement and diverse representation.”

“I know this has been a personally challenging decision for Josh and his family and on behalf of the Council I wish him the best with his personal and professional endeavours,” said Mayor Shaw.

Cr Allsop Cr Allsop works in Power & Renewables consulting with a professional background in Law and Economics. A long time Mosman Park resident, Cr Allsop was elected to Council in October 2021 on a four-year term.

During this time on Council, he advocated for best practice community engagement and infrastructure initiatives such as underpasses to improve safety at the Victoria Street crossing.

As part of his Council duties, Cr Allsop has served on the following committees:

  • Underground Power Advisory Group
  • Safety and Security Community Advisory Group
  • Safety and Security Interagency Working Group
  • Deputy – Metropolitan Regional Road Group (MRRG) – Western Sub Group
