Cr Rob Nash announces resignation from Mosman Park Council

Councillor Robert Nash has announced he will step down from Council at the Local Government Election on 21 October to focus on family and future.

Cr Nash was elected to Mosman Park Council in October 2021 on a four-year term.

Cr Nash’s decision to step down halfway through his term was prompted by the intricate balancing act between working full-time as a lawyer, significant Council commitments and time with his family.

His resignation leaves a vacant seat to be filled at the Local Government Election.

Mayor Paul Shaw thanked Cr Nash for his service and said his resignation will leave big shoes to fill.

“The spirited and honest discussions within the chambers have consistently been marked by goodwill, constructive debate, and a prevailing respect for each other – Rob has brought all that and more to Council over the past two years,” says Mayor Shaw.

“Being a Councillor is a significant undertaking. I appreciate Rob acknowledging his commitments have grown to the point he’s no longer in a position to give the time needed.”

“His invaluable knowledge of his community, critical thinking has added incredible value to our decision making. On behalf of Council and the community, I sincerely want to thank Rob for his dedication and passion. We wish him all the best with his future.”

Cr Nash said his decision was a personally difficult and one that was not made lightly.

“The camaraderie among my fellow Councillors and the profound sense of shared purpose that permeates our work and the decisions we’ve made have made my time on Council a privilege and honour. I truly believe this is testament to the exemplary leadership and support and encouragement demonstrated by both the CEO and Mayor, said Cr Nash.

As part of his Council duties, Cr Nash has served on the following committees:

  • Audit Committee
  • Underground Power Advisory Group
  • Deputy – Western Metropolitan Regional Council
  • Delegate – Development Assessment Panel

Cr Nash is a passionate advocate for local sporting clubs and community groups, budget responsibility and financial sustainability, underground power completion in Mosman Park, safe beach access and protecting local streetscapes and amenity through orderly planning and development.

Cr Nash is a third generation Mosman Park resident and ratepayer and is a full-time Barrister by vocation.
