Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program – phase 2
The Tom Perrott Reserve carpark is set to be resurfaced, following Council’s decision to allocate part of its LRCI grant funding to off-road asset maintenance.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Maurice moved a motion to include the resurfacing of the carpark as part of the improvement works that will also see the Chidley Point area rejuvenated.
Petition for the total ban of glyphosate use
Council voted to support the Town’s continuing reduction of Glyphosate use rather than endorse a total ban on herbicides in the Town of Mosman Park.
Prior to receiving a 259-signature petition which called for the total ban on glyphosate spraying, the Town was already taking proactive measures (such as manual and mechanical methods) to reduce its reliance on herbicides. Glyphosate is no longer sprayed in parks, playgrounds, streetscapes, footpaths, round-a-bouts and street kerbs. Glyphosate is now only spot sprayed in natural bushland areas.
Council also gave the green light to fund Non-Chemical Weed Control to support the Town’s herbicide reduction measures. This will help the Town continue to identify and implement practical and financially sustainable ways to manage weeds.
Draft Waste Plan 2020-25
The Town’s management of waste is set to go from strength to strength thanks to Council’s adoption of the Waste Plan 2020-25. A key component of the Plan includes a focus on increasing diversion from landfill.
The draft Plan underwent community consultation in late 2020 which helped to provide a framework for areas relating to Food Organics Garden Organics Systems (FOGO), strategies to reduce illegal dumping and littering, tackling recycling contamination and waste behaviour change programs and community education.
The Waste Plan will pave the way for the Town to meet the objectives of State Government’s Waste Avoidance and Resources Recovery Strategy 2030.
Underground power
Council is moving forward on community’s calls for immediate action on the Town’s underground power network by giving the green light to enlist a Project Manager who will provide civil engineering and financial modelling expertise.
A petition calling for the Town’s immediate action to complete the underground power network in Mosman Park was a key driver in this decision.
The Town recognises how pivotal it is to develop robust Town infrastructure for future generations and is committed to taking steps to deliver underground power to the community.
Audit reports – Annual Financial Statement
Good governance remains a key priority for the Town, with Council signing off on the 2019/20 financial statements.
Annual Electors Meeting
Council resolved to hold the General Meeting of Electors on Tuesday 16 March.
