Mobile Food Trading Policy
The draft Mobile Food Trading Policy was adopted by Council, which will cut red tape and make doing business in Mosman Park simpler.
The new policy replaces the Temporary Food Trading Policy and will give mobile food traders the ability to apply for a one-year permit, and an opportunity to have the permit extended up to three years.
This improvement in flexibility for mobile food traders will also have flow-on effects for the broader community – activating public places in which residents can socialise and connect.
Buckland Hill ‘off lead’ Dog Exercise Area
A section of Buckland Hill Park has been approved as an ‘off lead’ dog exercise area by Council.
Located at the end of Rebel Place and Somerset Crescent, this portion of Buckland Hill Park joins almost a dozen other off lead parks and reserves within the Town.
A number of factors were considered including impact to wildlife, proximity to a school ‘walking bus’, and intrusion on nearby properties.
Ultimately, Council formalised the off lead area as there have been very few incidents in the past, and it is a discrete and self-contained area away from roads and traffic.
Bird Park Environmental Management Plan petition
Council has agreed to incorporate Bird Park in the Buckland Hill Conservation Management Plan, acknowledging that the valuable asset that adds vitality to the Town’s natural environment.
The level of support and enthusiasm conveyed by the Friends of Bird Park and other residents was (including the 37-signature petition) acknowledged. Council will now move forward with entering into an MOU with the Friends of Bird Park to ensure sound environmental management of the area.
McCabe Street slip road parking petition
A two-hour parking restriction on the McCabe Street slip road will be put into place, following a petition submitted to the Town in October. Council endorsed the parking limit in acknowledgement of residents’ concerns over a lack of parking along the slip road.
Ward review
Council endorsed a move towards a no-wards structure which it hopes will facilitate a ‘one Town’ approach to decision making.
The decision echoes community sentiment following a consultation in September; that Elected Members should advocate for all residents; and that the absence of wards can pave the way for democratic equity in Mosman Park.
Memorial Hall lease
Council agreed to enter into a new lease with MosArts for the Memorial Hall premises.
The new lease entails a five-year term with an option of five years to renew.
The Town looks forward to working with MosArts over the coming months and years to continue strengthening relationships with community groups; as well as ensure the preservation of this well-loved heritage building.
The Town recognises the importance of working glove in hand with MosArts to empower them with the ability to negotiate sub-leases; which will ultimately bring about benefits and positive outcomes for the Mosman Park community.
