The Town has now received endorsement from the Minister for Planning to undertake consultation on the applicant led amendment to Local Planning Scheme No. 3 for Lot 600 (60) McCabe Street, colloquially known as ‘Rocky Bay’.
Public Consultation is open for a period of 67 days from 12 November 2024 to 18 January 2025 via YourSay. Alternatively, we can accept your submission via email at admin@mosmanpark.wa.gov.au (attention Luke Harris).
The amendment proposes to update the Scheme by making the following modifications:
- Change the zoning of the land from ‘Parks and Reserves – Social Care Facility’ to ‘Residential’,
- Applying residential density codes of R40, R60, and R160 in specific locations across the site,
- Including specified additional uses of Restaurant/Cafe and Community Purpose to the site; and,
- Creating a new Schedule 3 of the Scheme that includes specific design objectives that apply to the site, including the requirement for the provision of Public Open Space.
We understand our community are keen to learn more about the complexities and details of this proposal. We encourage you to read the FAQs and view all the documentation at the above YourSay site before making a submission.
All community members are also welcome to come along to our Community Information and Q&A session on Wednesday 27 November at 5.30pm at the Town of Mosman Park administration office, 1 Memorial Drive, Mosman Park.
At this session, our Planning team will outline the amendment process and specify what actions the Town can and cannot undertake in relation to the amendment. There will also be opportunity for you at this Q&A session to ask any questions relating to the proposal and/or consultation process. Please note, registration is required for this event before 25 November via email admin@mosmanpark.wa.gov.au
Once consultation is completed, a final report will be written to Council with recommendations on how the amendment should be finalised.
Council will have the ability to make one of the following decisions:
- To recommend that the amendment be adopted in its current form.
- To recommend the amendment be adopted, but subject to changes that the WAPC and Minister will review.
- To recommend that the amendment be refused.
The final decision on the amendment will be made by the Minister for Planning, on advice from the WAPC. At this stage, these timeframes have not been confirmed but we will do our best to keep our community informed every step of the way.
