Town staff join forces to keep Mosman Beach clean

On Friday 17 October, Town of Mosman Park staff swapped their desks for the dunes, taking part in a staff beach clean-up at Mosman Beach as part of the 21st annual Tangaroa Blue WA Beach Clean Up and the Town’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Armed with gloves, reusable bags, and plenty of enthusiasm, the team worked together to remove 754 pieces of litter – approximately 10kg or 84 litres – from the dunes and surrounding pathways.

The clean-up not only helped remove waste from one of our community’s most loved coastal areas but also reinforced the Town’s shared responsibility in protecting and enhancing our natural environment.

The top five litter items collected were:

  1. Cigarette butts & filters – 146 collected (Australia’s most littered item)

  2. Soft plastic film remnants – 122 collected

  3. Miscellaneous paper pieces – 88 collected

  4. Hard plastic remnants – 86 collected

  5. Paper & cardboard packaging – 58 collected (including ‘compostable’ coffee cups)

This initiative reflects the Town’s commitment to leading by example and encouraging sustainable practices that protect Mosman Park’s unique natural assets.

The Town regularly supports community initiatives and programs that promote environmental awareness, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection – all part of our broader goal to build a greener, more sustainable future.
