The Town of Mosman Park has upgraded sports lights at Tom Perrott Reserve that are not only improving safety for players and spectators, but also paving the way for an inaugural women’s AFL club next season.
The game-changing amenities also accommodate expanded numbers on an oval that was experiencing a lot of wear under the partially-lit sections of the ground.
Community consultation was conducted in May, which saw around 94% of people in favour of the lighting upgrade.
Mosman Park Senior Football Club has welcomed the new lights, noting the positive difference the upgraded lights have made to their local sporting community.
“The brighter lights will have a tremendous impact on the ability for all of our players (men, women and children) to further develop their skills and become more engaged with community sport,” said Thomas Edinger, President of the Mosman Park Seniors.
Acting Town CEO Gray Stead said the upgraded LED lights deliver huge energy efficiencies while minimising spill and glare onto the surrounding carpark.
“It’s a win for our community and a win for the Town. We’re thrilled with the outcome of these much-needed improvements to the field and look forward to seeing our local sports clubs thrive as a result,” said Stead.
The new light poles were partially funded through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program which assists local councils deliver priority infrastructure projects that benefit the community.
