With the cooler, wetter months upon us, it’s time to give your sprinklers a well-earned rest. From June 1 to August 31, all residents are asked to turn off their irrigation systems – including both scheme water and bore water users.
Why switch off?
During winter, natural rainfall provides the moisture your garden needs to thrive. By switching off your irrigation system during this time, you’re helping to conserve our precious water supplies for when we need them most – during the hot, dry summer months.
Even if you have an automated system, it’s important to manually turn off your irrigation controller or shut off the main valve to ensure water isn’t being used unnecessarily.
When can irrigation resume?
Irrigation systems can be turned back on from September 1, once the winter switch-off period ends.
Saving water is a community effort. By participating in the winter sprinkler switch-off, you’re contributing to a more sustainable future and helping to protect one of our most valuable resources.
