A laneway in Mosman Park has been revitalised with a new mural thanks to grant funding from the Town of Mosman Park and a passion for revitalising laneways by its residents.
The bright blue mural by Perth artist Susan Respinger sits at the intersection of Nagle Lane and Cain Mews and features local flora and New Holland Honeyeaters.
Cain Mews resident Aysen Jenkins and her neighbours wanted to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for their laneway and commissioned Respinger with financial assistance from the Town’s Community Partnership Program.
“Our laneway already has a tight, neighbourly feel and we wanted to celebrate and acknowledge that. The grant has really helped to give our laneway a sense of identity and place,” says Jenkins.
Mayor Paul Shaw said local governments play an important role in creating vibrant and liveable neighbourhoods to further community spirit and connection.
“The Community Partnership Program does just that – it supports local groups and empowers individuals to bring to life their ideas, energy and passion for connecting our community,” says Mayor Shaw.
“We’re looking for innovative and community-focused ideas– whether it’s an event that connects and supports vulnerable residents or an initiative that makes Mosman Park an even better place to live. I encourage everyone to apply and see where grant funding can take you.”
The Town’s Community Partnership Program is open for applications until 18 August. Individuals and local groups are invited to apply. Click here for guidelines and application forms.
