Dogs and sport: sharing our spaces

We love seeing our parks and ovals bring the community together – from weekend sport and kids’ training to daily dog walks.

As these spaces grow busier, we’re asking dog owners to help keep them safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

Being a responsible dog owner

  • Keep dogs on-lead within five metres of sports grounds during games or training.
  • No dogs in playgrounds – these are child-safe zones.
  • No chasing or harassing people, birds, or other animals – dogs must always be under control.

Respect and consideration go a long way

  • Even friendly dogs can make others uneasy. Not everyone knows your dog – stay on-lead and nearby during busy times.
  • Always pick up after your dog.
  • If your dog gets stressed in noisy or crowded areas, visit during quieter times.
  • Follow signage and event boundaries. They’re there to keep everyone safe –players, spectators, and dog.

Where can I exercise my dog?

There are a range of open spaces within the Town of Mosman Park to keep your four legged friend active. Download our Dog Exercise Area map below. Please remember that most areas in the Town are ‘on leash’ and there are areas where dogs are prohibited. When walking in our parks and reserves, please be careful to protect our native flora and fauna as they are sensitive to contact with people and domesticated animals.
